Coronary circulation has an extra feature of angiogenesis when the cardiac muscle gets deprived of oxygen for a long period of time, the cardiac circulation will start its compensatory mechanism by formation of new collateral circulation. The collateral circulation is the formation of newer vessels around the blocked area of the heart/myocardium so that the myocardium gets the needed blood supply. The formation of collateral circulation will take a longtime for the compensatory mechanism to occur. The angiogenesis and the formation of collateral circulation can be effectively increased by some of the interventions. One among them is the enhanced external counter pulsation, which is safe, non-invasive, outpatient treatment option for chronic stable angina without options for revascularization and to be called as natural bypass for CAD patients. Keywords

Introduction: Sleep disturbances are more prevalent among the elderly and act as a major source of stress for them. Poor sleep in the elderly is typically undertreated or treated with pharmacological interventions with adverse consequences. So it is relevant to investigate alternative strategies for sleep management. Aromatherapy is the method of using pleasant fragrance in treating the different health problems of the people. Aims and objective: To study the effectiveness of aromatherapy on quality of sleep among elderly inmates. Approach and design: Quantitative study approach was selected and the study design was quasi-experimental, one group pre-test post-test. Samples and sampling criteria: Sixty inmates from selected old age home were assessed for general pattern of sleep. Among them who were having fairly and inadequate sleep were selected for the study. Aromatherapy was administered for five consecutive days. The lavender essential oil was dropped on a cotton ball and kept under the pillow throughout the night. The quality of sleep was assessed before aromatherapy, as well as on the third and sixth day using Modified Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). The data was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings: The mean pre-test PSQI score (11.9) was significantly higher than the post test score (4.875). The computed 't' value (10.184) is greater than the table value (t39=3.551, p<0.001). It indicated that there was a significant increase in the quality of sleep after aromatherapy. There was no significant association found between quality of sleep and selected demographic variables. Conclusion: The study findings revealed that quality of sleep was poor in the elderly before aromatherapy and the quality of sleep increased by aromatherapy and it was concluded that aromatherapy is useful in increasing the quality of sleep among elderly inmates of the old age home. Keywords

Primary dysmenorrhea is an idiopathic condition thought to be related to the release of inflammatory mediators that are associated with uterine vasoconstriction and pain during menstruation. Dysmenorrhea is generally treatable with analgesics including NSAID's, acetaminophen, antispasmodics etc. Nowadays women use over the counter (OTC) medication frequently for the management of dysmenorrhea. This study was aimed to assess the prevalence and knowledge about the use of OTC drugs to overcome dysmenorrhea among undergraduate student girls. Quantitative study approach was selected and the research design was non experimental descriptive study. Non probability purposive sampling was used to select hundred under graduate girls from selected colleges within the age group of 18-21 years as samples. A self prepared questionnaire with 38 questions was used to collect the data and collected data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Among total 100 samples, Seventy nine samples experienced dysmenorrhea and out that 32 uses drug. Among 32, nine were using OTC drugs. Among the 100 samples, none of them had good knowledge, 55% had moderate knowledge and 45% were poor in knowledge about the use of OTC medications. There was a significant association between knowledge level and age of menarche at the level of significance 0.05.Keywords

What could be more precious than gifting a born child a way to fight against haemopoietic, genetic or immune system diseases for the rest of his or her life? Or helping someone to fight against them with easily available sources. Once umbilical cord was considered as a waste product, but in this new era; it was found that umbilical cord blood is the richest source of haemopoietic stem and pluripotent progenitor cells. This creates the new way of storing them for the further use i.e. Stem cell banking. A study was formulated to assess the knowledge level about umbilical cord stem cell banking among student nurses, compare the knowledge level of student nurses of selected nursing colleges and to associate the knowledge score with selected demographic variables of student nurses from selected colleges. A quantitative research approachwas adopted and non-experimental descriptive research design was used. After getting the administrative permissionpurposive sampling was used to select 100 samplesfrom fourth year B. Sc nursing of selected nursing colleges for assessing the knowledge about umbilical cord stem cell banking. The study findings showed that, 76% of student nurses having moderate knowledge, 23% of student nurses having poor knowledge about umbilical cord stem cell banking. There was no significant association were found between the knowledge score and selected demographic variables. Now ongoing researches are about the uses of stem cell therapy in curing cardiac, genetic, hematologic and endocrine disorders. So, the storing of umbilical cord blood and stem cells at the time of birth will act like a total insurance for lot more disease in life. Keywords
